Vaal Route
This picturesque circular route starts in the Freestate town of Parys. Parys is a fast developing tourist destination that caters for adventure activities and is also developing a rich art and cultural experience for visitors.
The route loosely follows the Vaal River on the North West province side and then crosses the river approximately half way to follow the river back up to Parys on the Free State side. Mostly gravel roads and three very short stretches of tarred road.
The Vredefort Dome area was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2005 (wikipedia.org). This route is almost entirely situated inside this World Heritage site. For this reason please respect the environment. No littering and cowboy biking! Please stay on the dirt roads and respect this wonderful part of South Africa.
