The 650cc class is the most popular size when it comes to www.project-zone.co.za users.
A recent poll on Project-Zone shows that 46.5% of participants in the poll owns bikes in the 600cc to 799cc range.
The 650cc size has long been a favourite for a good balance between price, size, weight, performance and comfort. Another contributing factor might be the availability of both twin and single cylinder options in 650 cubic centimetres and thus caters for a wide range of riders. On the one extreme you might be looking at something like a KLR with proven long distance adventure riding credentials and can be fixed with "bloudraad" and luck. On the other side of the spectrum you are looking at a refined V-twin like the V-Strom that is pure long distance touring pleasure.
If you own an adventure motorcycle or dual purpose bike in the 650cc class you can also rest assured that you are in good company as even in the Dakar they were the popular choice in recent years.
