Bertrand van der Berg:

- Qualified Mechanical Engineer.
- Living in Gauteng, South Africa.
- Avid dual-purpose biker.
- Other hobbies and sports: white water kayaking, white water rafting, mountain biking, running, rock climbing, adventure racing, orienteering, 4x4 trails, under water hockey, canoe polo, camping, touring and reading.
- Competed in the final local selections for the 2003 Land Rover G4 Challenge.
- Countries visited include: Germany, Greece, Portugal, UK, USA (including Alaska),  Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Swaziland, Namibia,  Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Angola.
